    Since LED light bulbs are designed to use less energy than halogen spots, wattage is not a reliable way to gauge how bright the bulb is. Brightness is measured in Lumens.

    With LED spotlights there is more to consider than just a direct Lumen comparison with the halogen equivalent. The superior light quality given off by LEDs and much lower bulb degradation rate over time must also be taken into account. This is why the stated Lumen output for an LED spotlight is often less than that quoted for a halogen spot bulb it replaces.

    Beam Angle

    Manufacturers will give lifetime claims in multiples of 1000 hours. One thousand hours is equivalent to about 6-months use when the bulb is on for 4 hours per day. A traditional halogen spotlight bulb is expected to last about one year (2000 hours) where as an LED will last between 30,000 and 50,000 hours - that’s between 15 and 25 years! Switching to LEDs means you may never have to change your light bulbs again.

    Dimmable

    Dimmable LED bulbs are only compatible with a dedicated "Trailing Edge" dimmer switch that reduces the current flow. Your bulbs will not work effectively if used with the conventional "Leading Edge" dimmer switches that operate with a higher current flow.

    When ordering dimmable LEDs please ensure you have an LED-compatible Dimmer Switch.

    Bulb Base

    This is the fitting of the bulb, described by a letter/number code. You can find out what your fitting is by looking on the base of the bulb you are replacing or the packaging of your existing bulb.

    Colour

    Warm white is a softer more yellow light that is closer to the light given off by a traditional halogen spotlight. Therefore, warm white is better suited for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms.

    Cool white is a much brighter white that is best suited for kitchens, utility areas and bathrooms.

    I've used these bulbs in a standard ceiling pendant in an upstairs hallway and in a small bedroom and although ideally I would have gone for a 60w equivalent these are more than adequate. Build quality is good but as these are clear bulbs you can obviously see the 3 LEDs so the bulbs aren't as decorative as old style/halogen candle bulbs. They're also quite large so not necessarily ideal for decorative light fittings. One bulb is dimmer controlled and does strobe ever so slightly but this may seem more exaggerated as I've used it in a wicker type shade which casts lots of random shadows!

    Good replacement for a 20-40 watt standard bulb. Warm white is more agreeable than cool white in my opinion. I'm using these in bedside tablelamps, with a dimmer (plug-in adaptor) that allows me to reduce the brightness more if desired.\nIt'll take a while to test its claimed longevity (I hope!)

    I bought these for domestic lighting in fittings where bulb size is limited. I am seeking to replicate the colour temperature of natural evening sunlight without any obvious colour cast. 2700K or less is too warm - I hate yellow light. The cool bulbs are better and render whites beautifully but are maybe a bit too bluish. Why does the choice always have to be between (very) warm and (very) cool? Also, not quite as bright as I would like, but these are still the brightest in this size/style/colour I can find at the moment.

    These bulbs replaced halogen bulbs in my chandelier, to save energy etc.One was faulty but led replaced it promptly and I had no requirement to return the faulty bulb

    The bulb feels solid and well made compared to incandescent bulbs.\nThe Warm White option is much whiter than the original incandescent bulb making these LED replacements unsuitable for traditional interior restful lighting.

    These candle bulbs are elegant in design and so can be used in the most demanding of applications. The clear bulb is particularly suitable for chandeliers in my experience and provide excellent lighting.

    Good product, nice design, but not reliable enough. 2 failed after 2 weeks and a further 3 within 6 weeks of purchase. However LEDHUT were very good at replacing the items.

    I think I should have chosen a warmer looking light. The bulbs and strip light were a bit cold looking and not as bright as normal bulbs which I didnt expect as they are energy saving.

    Only probelm was the size compared to those being replaced. Also some competitors bulbs smaller.\n\nThe light is very good as used in glass beaded light fittings.

    The bulb have been used as replacements for 40W GLS equivalents. The lighting levels are slightly lower, but on the whole they have been a good replacement. Too early to notice any financial savings.
