    Since LED light bulbs are designed to use less energy than halogen spots, wattage is not a reliable way to gauge how bright the bulb is. Brightness is measured in Lumens.

    With LED spotlights there is more to consider than just a direct Lumen comparison with the halogen equivalent. The superior light quality given off by LEDs and much lower bulb degradation rate over time must also be taken into account. This is why the stated Lumen output for an LED spotlight is often less than that quoted for a halogen spot bulb it replaces.

    Beam Angle

    The beam angle is how wide the beam is spread.     Size (50X45mm)

    The size determines the diameter and the length of the bulb. In most cases the bulbs are a retro-fit, which means they are a direct replacement for their halogen equivalent.

    Input Power

    This is a measurement of the volts required to operate the bulb. The standard for the UK is 240 volts. This means that you can plug these directly into existing fittings without changing any of the electrics.

    Average Lifespan

    Manufacturers will give lifetime claims in multiples of 1000 hours. One thousand hours is equivalent to about 6-months use when the bulb is on for 4 hours per day. A traditional halogen spotlight bulb is expected to last about one year (2000 hours) where as an LED will last between 30,000 and 50,000 hours - that’s between 15 and 25 years! Switching to LEDs means you may never have to change your light bulbs again.

    Dimmable

    Dimmable LED bulbs are only compatible with a dedicated "Trailing Edge" dimmer switch that reduces the current flow. Your bulbs will not work effectively if used with the conventional "Leading Edge" dimmer switches that operate with a higher current flow.

    When ordering dimmable LEDs please ensure you have an LED-compatible Dimmer Switch.

    Bulb Base

    This is the fitting of the bulb, described by a letter/number code. You can find out what your fitting is by looking on the base of the bulb you are replacing or the packaging of your existing bulb.

    Colour

    Warm white is a softer more yellow light that is closer to the light given off by a traditional halogen spotlight. Therefore, warm white is better suited for living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms.

    Cool white is a much brighter white that is best suited for kitchens, utility areas and bathrooms.

    These would have been used to replace a fitting with a trio of bulbs in our bathroom. However I purchased them without seeing the physical measurement table on the website as it was out of the viewable area on my laptop. So in the end they didn't physically fit. Had emails from LED Hut saying refund to my card has been actioned, but cannot confirm as yet because my card issuers online banking isn't working.

    Bathroom replacements for surface mounted halogen spots. chose the white bulbs, rather than a warmer version and the transition from hallway into the bathroom is visually very striking. light is clear and bright and actually I feel an improvement over the previous halogen spots.\n\nI would recommend these to anyone (already have my family looking to change in their homes!).

    We had a loft conversion a few years ago and the builder fited 5 off halagen bulbs in the celing which is 250w! change to 5 off Led types now only 25W ! I reconn will have £100 per yaer from the second year which is better investamnt than any savings account.

    I used these lamps to replace the exsisting halogens i had which were always going & cost 5 times as much to run. These lamps are a direct replacement for my halogens & i'm very happy to recommend them to others.

    I am using these in my bathroom to replace 50 watt halogens. Excellent bulbs but I needed to purchase a suitable transformer as these are 12 volt and the transformed I was using for the halogens was not suitable for these LED bulbs. Very good quipment.

    The choice was £40 for a new unit or your bulb. No contest.\nThe light given is not as bright but perfectly good enough.\nI must look at your other bulbs but I use 100 watt and you may not have them.

    wanted to tick 5 stars for the efficiency of service but didn't want to leave a comment. i ordered light bulbs for fuck's sake! yes, they give light when i switch them on. many thanks for that. would recommend but would advise anyone not to go through the wind up of leaving a review.

    I used these bulbs in a bathroom, to replace standard 50W ones that had been there for nearly 10 years. They are a perfect replacement, same light output, same warm colour and same beam angle as the existing ones still in use.

    These aren't bad, but are noticeably dimmer than a previously purchased bulb with a theoretically similar spec and similar price from a competitor. Sadly that previous bulb doesn't seem to be available for sale in the UK any more!

    Great to find an LED bulb that gives the same light as the halogen ones. The 'warm white' LED ones gives the same light as the halogen ones in my kitchen and bathrooms so I can replace them gradually as the halogen ones blow!

    Gave exactly the quality of light I needed - equivalent to Halogen bulbs but using much less power. Wide angle made all the difference for room lights rather than spotlights.

    Replacement of 6, 50 watt halogen bulbs for use in kitchen Firstly ordered 4 watt replacements which were not bright enough. Exchanged for 4.5 watt (60 watt equivalent) which are ok.

    The LEDs are about 20% less bright than traditional bulbs, but with 8 in my kitchen the savings are massive (32 watts as opposed to 400). Also, I find that it is no use having a digital radio on when the lights are on because they disturb the signal. Analog radio unaffected.
